About Historic Acres of Hershey
Historic Acres gives couples several options for how they want their wedding day to flow. The property includes multiple ceremony locations, a barn for more intimate celebrations and a climate controlled pavilion that can accommodate up to 260 guests.
Outdoor ceremonies are commonly held near the pond and fountain, while the pavilion provides an indoor ceremony option when needed. There is also a four bedroom farmhouse on the property that can be used while getting ready.
For most of the weddings our team works here, guest counts tend to fall between 100 and 150 people, leaving plenty of room for a large dance floor.

Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception Setup
One advantage of working at Historic Acres as often as we have is knowing where equipment works best throughout each part of the day.
For an outdoor ceremony, our DJ setup is typically positioned toward the back of the processional aisle. This allows us to manage ceremony audio without becoming a distraction from the ceremony space itself.
Cocktail hour can take place on the patio or inside the barn before guests move into the pavilion for the reception.
Inside the pavilion, our reception setup is typically centered near the doors. This positioning works well for distributing sound throughout the room while keeping the DJ connected to the dance floor and the rest of the reception.
What to Know About Sound at Historic Acres
The pavilion has a slight natural echo, something our team accounts for when setting up and adjusting the sound system.
More speakers or more volume are not necessarily the answer in a reflective room. Placement and proper sound levels matter, especially once the space fills with guests.
There are no major power limitations our team has encountered at Historic Acres, which gives us flexibility when bringing in DJ equipment, lighting and additional production elements.

Load In and Vendor Access
Historic Acres is one of the easier venues for our team to load into.
From the vehicle to the event space, load in typically takes only about five to ten minutes. That straightforward access makes setup more efficient, especially for weddings incorporating additional lighting or entertainment elements.
Because our team has worked at the property so frequently, we already know the setup locations, access points and flow between the ceremony, cocktail and reception spaces.
Lighting and Special Effects
The pavilion gives couples plenty of opportunities to change the look of the room through lighting.
Our team has used uplighting, moving head fixtures and Leko gobos at Historic Acres to add more dimension to the space and bring attention to areas like the dance floor.
For couples looking for a bigger reception moment, Historic Acres also allows effects we frequently incorporate into weddings, including magic sparklers, dancing on the clouds and CO2.
The large dance floor makes the venue especially well suited for couples who want dancing and entertainment to be a major part of their reception.

The 10:00 PM Music Cutoff
One important timeline detail to know before planning a Historic Acres wedding is the 10:00 PM music cutoff.
Rather than treating that as an afterthought, we recommend building the reception timeline around it from the beginning. Starting key moments and open dancing at the right time can make a major difference in how much of the night guests actually spend on the dance floor.
When we DJ here, we already know the venue’s timing and can structure the reception accordingly rather than trying to adjust at the end of the night.
